HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

On campus at Missouri State University, I am the President of the Student Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. We work with Springfield's Habitat for Humanity branch and help with their build days twice a month starting at the beginning of the school year, to provide housing for low-income families in our community.

Outisde of working with Springfield Habitat and our community, serving as the president of a student organization allows me to engage with students on campus and advocate for volunteer work at events like the Student Organization Festival. Tabling for these events, as shown above, are always so much fun!

As the face of our organization, I have had a wonderful time representing Habitat for Humainty at community events and university campus events for the past three years. From hosting organization meetings, and advocating for Habitat for Humanity at campus festivals, to leading our MSU students at community events and commmunicating with city representatives, I have had a fantastic leadership journey.

The wide variety of incredibly rewarding jobs that we completed to help build these houses kept me on my toes, and createed such a great environment for learning life skills, all while supporting people in our community who need it most. From painting ceilings to building new porch decks, I've had the chance to do it all!

From my very first build day, pictured above, I was immediatley met with so much support and excitement. The students that choose to volunteer with us are always so much fun to be around and so willing to do anything they can to support our organization and our homeowners. My executive team members are some of the most dedicated and hardworking women I have yet to meet on campus and I am incredibly grateful for them.

Serving as the president of this fantastic organization has given me so many amazing oppurtunites to support my community and gain valuable leadership skills. Springfield's branch of Habitat for Humanity often reached out to me to attend events as the representative for MSU Habitat, including the recent groundbreaking ceremony for Legacy Trails, a new Habitat neighborhood revitilization project. My time as president of this organization will remain one of my favorite parts of my university experience forever.
